Lilah´s game by Valerie Campos

Lilah's game, by Valerie Campos, exhibits the deconstruction of environments. This work Explores complex impulses that range from the individual to the collective, with the game of chance as a starting point. Valerie uses horizontal and vertical lines to take us through multiple planes and exposes an invisible grid that is already present in everything around us.

The registered objects, such as flowers in a vase, books, paintings on the walls, dogs walking around the room, lose their substance and merge into an intimate domestic narrative of Valerie’s process. Lilah's game reminds us of the challenge between balancing chaos and order; two complementary approaches to life. Chaos, which explores possibilities through the unknown, by not controlling what happens on the canvas. Order, which structures different dimensions of reality, applied within the composition through conscious architectural mark making.

The repetitive rhythm of intertwined lines and superimposed images, where details do not prevail over the composition as a whole, is for Valerie, a visual metaphor of the mutability of the universe, a fabric that encompasses and unifies everything.
